Spirit isn't just located in a community; Spirit is part of the community. We believe in supporting the people and places that support us. It's not enough to simply have an impact upon the local economy; we're looking to impact the world. Every year Spirit and our employees donate millions of dollars and thousands of hours to personally give back to the communities we call home. Whether it's supporting the United Way in Wichita, teaching kids in Oklahoma the importance of water safety, sponsoring soccer in Scotland or donating to the Red Cross, there are plenty of ways to get involved. Green Initiatives
What does it mean to “go green?” At Spirit it means taking action. It's not some idea gathering dust on an executive's desk. It's not a tactic marketing is using to sell more products. At Spirit AeroSystems it's the way we do business. Our company has a recycle rate of nearly 75%. We recycle and recover about three-quarters of everything we use. In one year at Spirit's headquarters in Wichita, we recycle nearly 2 million pounds of wood, 23 million pounds of metal, 1.7 million pounds of paper and 620 million gallons of water.

Additionally, Spirit recently completed one of the largest relighting projects in the nation. Replacing old factory lights with high efficiency fluorescents reduced our energy consumption by 45%. That is just the beginning. Spirit has an entire team dedicated to conservation initiatives.

So whether it's improving the systems already in place or planning and building the super-efficient factory of the future, Spirit is always looking to take the right action on behalf of the environment.
